Dreema Patel
Software Engineer 4 at Adobe

FELLOW MEMBER
Dreema Patel has built a distinguished career of more than a decade in enterprise web technologies, with a professional trajectory defined by platform engineering, API integration, and the delivery of web systems at global scale. Her work across major technology organizations such as Adobe and PayPal reflects a rare ability to combine deep frontend engineering expertise with architectural leadership, enabling enterprise platforms that serve millions of users while advancing the practical application of modern web technologies. Grounded in React, Node.js, and JavaScript, her career has consistently centered on designing extensible systems, guiding cross-functional implementation, and translating technical complexity into measurable product and platform outcomes.
At Adobe, Dreema Patel demonstrated high-impact technical leadership through the architecture and delivery of Discover Mode, a product-led growth initiative designed to let anonymous users explore Acrobat Web capabilities through guided sample workflows. In this effort, she architected a frontend system that enabled secure interaction with advanced document workflows such as editing, organizing, compressing, combining, and generative AI-powered features, all without requiring user sign-in. What distinguished this initiative was not merely the user-facing experience, but the underlying engineering sophistication: the platform incorporated entitlement-aware and rate-limited execution against controlled PDF samples, balancing accessibility, compliance, and abuse prevention. Through collaboration with multiple feature teams and mentorship of a junior engineer, she helped deliver the system end to end and deploy it broadly into production, where it contributed measurable gains in user engagement, product discovery, and revenue conversion.
Her work at Adobe also included leading the frontend architecture for Expand Download, an initiative that transformed the conventional PDF download process into a strategic discovery layer for adjacent document workflows such as conversion and compression. In this project, Dreema Patel reimagined a static action as a modular, extensible architecture capable of supporting multiple conversion pipelines across Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and image formats. The significance of this contribution lies in how it elevated a basic utility into a scalable platform surface integrated across Viewer, Share, Home, and Documents. Deployed to millions of monthly active users, the system not only improved immediate product engagement but also established a durable technical foundation for future global and mobile expansion.
At PayPal, she extended her architectural influence into large-scale financial and commerce platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer working on the Venmo Business Profiles initiative, she architected and implemented a GraphQL API layer that unified multiple internal systems spanning compliance, risk, and security. This work enabled real-time eligibility and onboarding decisions for business accounts within the Venmo ecosystem. The technical value of the project was rooted in her design of GraphQL schemas and resolvers that abstracted backend complexity while preserving integrity, extensibility, and scalability. Serving as the primary liaison between Venmo interface teams and PayPal platform stakeholders, she ensured the resulting solution met rigorous security and production requirements. The platform ultimately supported onboarding for more than 150,000 business profiles, contributing directly to Venmo’s expansion into merchant commerce.
Earlier in her PayPal tenure, Dreema Patel played a leading role in building a progressive merchant onboarding system used across more than 190 countries. Rather than relying on rigid, front-loaded data collection, she helped shape a friction-reducing onboarding model that allowed merchants to begin with minimal information and provide additional data only when required by compliance or transaction context. By improving form flows, validation, and user experience, this work materially increased sign-up completion rates and strengthened merchant acquisition at a truly global scale.
She also contributed to the PayPal Commerce Platform and the Walmart Marketplace integration pilot, where she led frontend implementation of a consent-based onboarding experience for large ecommerce marketplaces operating under strict compliance conditions. This initiative required secure merchant consent flows and batch data-sharing pipelines through PayPal’s infrastructure, validating a scalable integration model for onboarding external commerce partners. The pilot demonstrated both the strategic relevance and technical feasibility of extending PayPal’s commerce capabilities to major marketplace environments.
Across all of these initiatives, Dreema Patel’s body of work reveals a pattern of sustained excellence in designing scalable architectures, building extensible integration layers, and guiding organizations through technically complex implementations. Her contributions are not confined to coding execution alone; they reflect system-level thinking, mentorship, platform vision, and measurable influence on enterprise products used by millions. Taken together, her record stands as a strong example of how enterprise web engineering, when executed at scale and with architectural rigor, advances both the discipline and practice of computer science
