Shreya Gupta: Architecting AI Infrastructure for Global-Scale Impact
From revolutionizing AI training at Google to modernizing trade processing at Goldman Sachs and scaling intelligent systems at Expedia Group, Shreya Gupta has built a career defined by technical mastery, environmental responsibility, and transformative business results.
At Google, Gupta’s innovations have redefined how frontier AI models like Gemini and Bard are trained. Through Project ML Capacity Unification, she pioneered a unified scheduling layer that unlocked 11,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs, delivering $250 million in savings, reducing 27,500 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, and projecting $5 billion in savings over five years. Her architectural leadership for Gemini 2.0’s scheduling infrastructure introduced advanced capabilities like slice reservation APIs and weighted fair queuing, boosting efficiency while cutting costs. Leading Project Apollo, she replaced static resource holdbacks with dynamic allocation algorithms, unlocking 31,000 VIPERLITE_PODS chips and 28,000 Cloud TPU units, sharply reducing operational losses.
Before Google, at Goldman Sachs, she redesigned post-execution trade processing for the Asset Management Division, integrating ElasticSearch to achieve a 200% performance boost and eliminating multi-hour delays. She also created a modular regression and load testing framework that cut testing times by 90% while elevating global development standards.
At Expedia Group, Gupta implemented ML-driven monitoring systems that improved functionality by 65%, created the DevCollab Bot to boost productivity by 45%, and delivered $500K in savings through infrastructure optimization with AWS, Chef, and CloudFormation. She also developed an ML-powered resume rating system adaptable to diverse formats.
Her impact extends into public service. Project Rakshak Arohan, for the Ministry of Assam, integrated ML and geospatial analytics to improve public safety, while Project Shikshan Arohan modernized administration for 2,500+ government schools, earning ministerial recognition for projected 55% improvements in teaching outcomes.
Gupta’s academic record is flawless — a Master’s in Computer Science from USC with a 4.0 GPA and a Bachelor’s as University Topper and Valedictorian with a 10.0 GPA. Her accolades include the Google Tech Impact Award, Google Perfy Award, multiple national hackathon wins, and recognition as one of India’s Top 50 Women Coders.
Beyond engineering, she is a recognized community leader — State Lead for Google Developers Group & Women Techmakers, Chairperson of the Computer Society of India Student Chapter, and a reviewer for major AI conferences like ICLR, IJCNN, and GreenAI. Gupta’s career exemplifies the blend of innovation, leadership, and global impact that defines an IICSPA Fellow.
